1. Time and Place

1.1. The competition will be taking place on the 14th of March 2019 from 12:15 to 14:45.

1.2. The competition will be held in Tallinn University of Technology (Ehitajate tee 5, Tallinn, Estonia)

  1. Goals of the Competition

2.1. To popularize the profession of construction engineering and enlarge collaboration with building industry.

2.2. To offer students  in the field of construction engineering a challenge to practical experience and employ their knowledge to enrich their studies through it.

  1. The Task

3.1. Contestants have to come up with idea combining building industry with technology and  present it convincingly to the jury.

3.2. The mentors on Merko will introduce the content of digital engineering for 10 minutes.

3.3. The team will pick out their task (the mentors of Merko will offer 3 topics but team can pick their own topic).

3.4. Team will have 75 minutes to work out idea and prepare presentation.

3.5. Each team will have 5 minutes to sell the idea to the jury.

3.6. The order of presentations will be picked randomly.

3.7. List of allowed materials and tools:

3.7.1. Two sheets of paper (A1)

3.7.2. Highlighters (at least three different colours)

3.7.3. Two Merko green card (one card gives 2 minutes consultation with mentors of Merko)

 

  1. Participants

4.1. This is a team competition. The maximum team size in 5 people

4.2. The competition is free to participate in.

4.3. There is no set age limit.

4.4. Participants are recommended to have base knowledge about the processes in building site or industry.

4.5. Participation is voluntary and at the participant’s own risk. The hosts take no responsibility for possible accidents and their consequences.

5.1. Registration can be found on BuildIT 2019’s homepage.

5.2. In case of free spots, it will be possible to register to the competition on the spot before the start of the competition.

5.3. By signing up, all participants voluntarily give their consent for the use of all information gathered during the event including pictures and videos made of the participants for marketing purposes by BuildIT.

  1. Judging

6.1. Judging will be based on the presentation and on the probable usage of result idea.

  1. Awards

7.1. 1st to 3rd place recipients will be rewarded.
